Delhi Government to Relaunch PoochO App, Cover 90,000 Auto Rickshaws

Delhiites will be able to book auto rickshaws using their smartphones by the end of this month on the lines of app-based taxi service providers in the national capital.

Transport Minister Gopal Rai said that government will bring all 90,000 auto rickshaws under the existing PoochO app developed by Delhi Integrated Multi-Model Transit System (DIMTS).

In July last year, Lt Governor Najeeb Jung had launched PoochO app which allows people to access the DIMTS database of registered drivers' mobile numbers and call them up to book a ride. However, most auto rickshaws could not come under this app.

"We have decided to relaunch PoochO app with additional features on October 22 through which people can book auto rickshaws using the same. All the city's autos will come under PoochO app," Rai told reporters in New Delhi.

PoochO app can be downloaded on phones from Google Play store and thereafter, people have to ensure GPS of their phone is on and can find out auto nearest to them.

According to the minister, government will on October 15 announce a mobile number on which drivers of auto rickshaws will be required to send their mobile numbers so that they can register themselves with PoochO app.

"We have got to know that the several mobile numbers of drivers, who were registered with this app, have been changed. We will ask auto drivers to send their new mobile numbers on the new DIMTS helpline to be launched on October 15 so that they can get passengers through PoochO app," Rai said.

The transport minister also said that government Thursday held a discussion with representatives of auto unions who put their suggestions to make this app better.

"A presentation was also held on this issue today. We got suggestions from auto unions and we will consider them," he added.

The Lenovo K3 Note is perhaps the most popular handset in its league today. It does most things right and comes with a gorgeous 5.5 Inch Full HD display, is powered by 1.7 GHz octa core MT6752 chipset with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, flaunts a juicy 2900mAh battery and comes wrapped in a simple yet elegant matte finish body.

ZENFONE 2 LASER

Though we have come to expect unmatched hardware specifications even at budget price, we are often cynical about the camera performance in low cost phones. Zenfone 2 Laser isn’t high on specs, but still tries hard to impress with its rear camera, and fairly succeeds too.

Pros

Good camera with Laser AF
Great battery backup
Gorilla Glass 4
4G LTE on both SIM

Cons

To many preloaded apps

REDMI 2 PRIME

The Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime is a much needed upgrade to Redmi 2. The handset doubles RAM and storage to eliminate some of the major flaws of its predecessor, and in turn resulting in a very compelling handsets at 6,999INR

Pros

Great HD display
Reasonably good camera
Feature rich and vibrant MIUI 6 ROM
Smooth performance
4G LTE on both SIM

Cons

Base software is slightly dated Android 4.4 Kitkat

YU YUPHORIA

If you have a craving for metallic feel, Yuphoria is your only option in this budget. Initially, we felt that the rounded metallic RIM on the Yuphoria was overhyped, but over a period of time, it kind of grew on us (nope, we didn’t put a case on it).

Pros

Metallic side frame
Sturdy build
Android Lollipop based Cyanogen OS 12
4G LTE on both SIM

Cons

Cuts corner with the display quality
No USB OTG

WRAP-UP

Some compromises are always involved with budget Android smartphones, but if you are not a power user, you can draw great experience even at this price. The key is to know exactly what matters and what doesn’t, specifically for you.

LENOVO CAMERA-SMARTPHONE CROSSOVER VIBE SHOT TO LAUNCH NEXT WEEK

Lenovo’s Vibe Shot, which takes design cues from an actual point and shoot camera will officially arrive in India on 22nd September.

Camera takes center stage with Vibe X Shot. On the rear side, you will find a 16MP sensor, Laser AF and – weather you need it or not – Triple LED flash. That’s not all. Lenovo has also added a dedicated hardware shutter key and a slider which lets you toggle between pro mode and auto mode on the fly.

Another prerequisite for decent photography is a good grip, and to facilitate that, Vibe shot is just 7.4 mm thick, weighs a modest 145 grams and has a mix of metal and glass on the rear side which adds to the premium feel. On the front side, there is an 8MP shooter to take care of all your selfie needs.

The Display/view finder is 5 Inches in size with 1080p full HD resolution. Talking about other features and specifications, Lenovo Vibe Shot is powered by 1.7 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (MSM8939) processor with Adreno 405 GPU, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

Also because it’s a smartphone-camera crossover, a MicroSD card slot is a necessity. Lenovo provides ample 128GB microSD storage option to shoot and store high resolution pictures and videos.

Other features include 4G LTE / 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, Android 5.1 Lollipop based Vibe UI and a 3000mAh battery.

We are guessing that the Vibe Shot should be priced somewhere dangerously close to Lenovo’s other offering Moto X Play, which puts user experience center-stage rather than specs. If the rear camera gets a positive nod from critics, the Vibe Shot will stay its ground.

Android, iOS, and Windows Players of Minecraft Can Game Together

It's almost been a year since Microsoft bought Minecraft studio Mojang. Since then, the Redmond-based company has been steadily working on the massive open world hit.

On Tuesday, it announced that the Windows 10 and Pocket Editions of the game have been updated for cross-platform multiplayer support. What this means is if you're playing the game on Android, iOS, Windows Phone, or Windows 10 PC, you can play the game with up to five of your friends if they're on any of the aforementioned platforms. Also, those playing it on mobile devices will finally be able to sprint across the world, enjoy enhanced weather effects, and create new items.

(Also see: Top 5 Free Online Music Apps For Music Lovers)

So far, Microsoft has not said if the original PC version prior to the Windows 10 edition or the console versions (the game is on PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox 360, and Xbox One) will be able to indulge in cross-platform play, though it's safe to guess this will not be the case.

Microsoft acquiring Mojang was seen as a surprise for many. However unlike its previous acquisitions such as that of Bungie, there haven't been any massive changes to the way Minecraft operates on non-Microsoft platforms considering it could very well turn the game into a Windows, Windows Phone, and Xbox One exclusive. Rather we're seeing an approach akin to how it handles its Office productivity suite, allowing it to flourish outside Microsoft's own ecosystem, never a bad thing for consumers. But for how long however, remains to be seen.
